While Truecaller app is ideal for figuring out who is calling or texting you, especially if you don’t have the person’s number, it crowdsources contact information from all its users’ address books, and a lot of folks may find this feature to be annoying, and may want to delete a Truecaller account.

If you belong to this category, then consider this article to be an expository one as we are going to discuss not just how to delete a Truecaller account but also how to change your name, and number on Truecaller, edit or remove tags, and so on.

Let’s get right into it.

How To Delete A Truecaller Account With Ease

No doubt, Truecaller has a wide range of benefits such as enabling users to block numbers, mark the numbers as spam, identify who is calling or texting so as to know whether to pick or not, however, for some reasons, you may want to get rid of it, and that’s what this section is all about – to guide you on how to do this.

Having said that, there are two ways through which we can get this done which are either by deleting the app on Android or iOS or by contacting Truecaller directly.

Step-By-Step Guide On How To Delete A Truecaller Account Through The App

Listed below are steps involved in getting rid of this account through the app:

Step 1: Open the Truecaller app on Android or iOS, and click on the hamburger menu icon located on the top left (bottom right on iOS).

Step 2: Click on Settings, and click on the Privacy Center.

Step 3: Scroll down until you see a Deactivate option here, click on it.

Step 4: On iOS, you will see the options that read “Keep My Data and Delete My Data”.

Note that while Keep My Data allows you to be searchable but unable to edit how you are displayed on Truecaller, the Delete My Data option means that you will not be searchable and your data will be deleted.

It’s left for you to decide on which of the two you should choose.

Having done this, your Truecaller profile should now be deleted.

Step-By-Step Guide On How To Delete A Truecaller Account By Contacting Tuecaller

I would like to categorically state that Truecaller doesn’t have a customer care number, so, if you see any “helpline” or “customer care” number, don’t bother reaching out.

Below are some of the ways through which you can reach out to them:

– Website for new support requests: https://support.truecaller.com/en/support/tickets/new

– Facebook Connect: @Truecaller

– Contact email: [email protected]

– Twitter handle: @TruecallerHelp, @Truecaller

How To Change Your Number On Truecaller App

A lot of people think that they have to delete their account before they can change their number on Truecaller, especially if you are now using a new number and want to update the same but that’s not necessary.

Going forward, we will be looking at how to achieve this without necessarily deleting your account both for Android, and iOS users.

– For Android Users

If you are an Android user, then you should follow the steps below to change your name in Truecaller:

Step 1: If the app is not installed on your phone, then go to the play store, and download it from there.

Step 2: From the app, go to the profile, and click on your name or number to open the full profile.

Step 3: A dialogue box will open warning you that all the badges linked to the current number will be lost, if you continue.

Step 4: Click on continue, then add your new number, verify and save the changes.

– For iOS Users

If you are using Truecaller on an iOS device, check the step below to see how you can change your number on the Truecaller account:

Step 1: Go to the Truecaller app, and install it in case you don’t have one

Step 2: Click on more located at the bottom left.

Step 3: Click on the edit icon located next to your name and number

Step 4: At this stage, you are free to edit your name, number, email id, display picture and even number.

Step 5: Click Save to return back and continue using the app.

How To Change Your Name On Truecaller App

To change your name on Truecaller app, follow these steps listed below:

Step 1: Open the Truecaller app on Android or iOS, and click on the hamburger menu icon located on the top left (bottom right on iOS).

Step 2: Click on the edit icon located next to your name and phone number (Edit Profile on iOS).

Step 3: Edit the first and last name fields to change your name.

How To Stop Spam Calls and Messages Without Sacrificing Privacy

One disadvantage of deleting your Truecaller account is that although your number is private, you are prone to spam calls, so, you might have a need to stop spam calls and messages without sacrificing your privacy.

Thankfully, this is possible to an extent as most Android phones have in-built Google’s Phone app, which has native support for filtering spam calls.

Although this can be used to filter the most prominent spam calls, it can’t be compared to Truecaller’s spam filtering.

To activate spam call filtering, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Click on the 3-dot menu located on the top-right corner and open Settings.

Step 2: Open Caller ID and Spam, then enable “Caller ID & spam” and “Filter spam calls” options.

That’s all, you’ve achieved this.

You might use the SMS Organizer software (Free) for text messages, which automatically groups all the spam messages into a different section.

Even better, you won’t be informed if you get any spam messages. The messages are also kept locally on your device; no servers are involved.

There is currently no suitable substitute that performs as well as Truecaller without impairing your privacy for identifying unknown numbers.

On your Android device, you can add a second user who won’t have access to your contacts or messages.

You can utilize Truecaller’s service in the second field to look up unfamiliar phone numbers without disclosing any personal information.

Let us know if you’d want to see how that’s done, and we’ll be of assistance.

Steps To Edit Or Remove Tags In Truecaller

Step 2: Click on the edit icon next to your name and phone number (It’s Edit Profile on iOS).

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom and click on the Add tag field. From here, you can select any tag you want to add or deselect all tags.

Steps To Create A Truecaller Business Profile

The essence of a business profile is to create awareness as well as pads important information about your business.

It also gives you the opportunity to include your address, website, email, opening hours, closing hours, and more.

The steps below will guide you as a Truecaller user on how to set up a business profile.

Step 1: If you are just signing up with Truecaller for the first time, go to the create your profile section to see the Create A Business Profile option located at the bottom but if you are already a Truecaller user, click on the hamburger menu icon located on the top left (bottom right on iOS).

Step 2: Click the edit icon located next to your name and phone number (Edit Profile on iOS).

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom and click on the option that reads Create A Business Profile.

Step 4: You will be asked to agree to the terms of service and privacy policy, click on Continue.

Step 5: Enter the details and click Finish.

Your business profile should now be created on Truecaller.
